India Divine

India Divine is an eclectic resource originating from the Bhaktivedanta Ashram in Mysore, South India. Instead of the lengthy textbook style of many informational sites, India Divine is based on traditions and customs passed on through practitioners of Hinduism. Each week, this site is updated with a new focus, with accompanying letters, discussions, and resources on the chosen weekly theme. This site also contains archives of past installations and of historical information and philosophies of Hinduism. India Divine offers selections from the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, and other sacred texts, with discussions on these excerpts. This content-rich site also offers its users Hindu postcards, Hindu scriptures, its own CD containing 50 hours of audio lectures on Hinduism, and an unusually rich offering of material on alternative medicine, healing, and mysticism.

Indian Heritage

Hosted by Saigan Connections, an Indian business community, this informative site focuses on the creative dynamic between Hindu belief systems and their expression in art. Indian Heritage draws on dance, sculpture, architecture, and other art forms as means of expressing a broad range of Hindu cultural traditions. The site provides a history of India and its primary religion and also includes condensed but informative descriptions of the major Hindu gods and temples and their significance. With an internal search engine and a few links to related sites, this site is organized and user-friendly.

Hindu Students Council

Although the Hindu Students Council is a collegiate organization, this Web site is useful for anyone interested in Hinduism and its effect on the youth of today. Promoting education through action is its primary purpose. With links to activism programs and a calendar of regional and national events, this site is a good starting point for anyone looking to get involved with Hindu issues. Also included are news articles and press releases. One of the most impressive of these is Deepak Chopra’s discussion of "Spirituality and Success." The HSC site is organized and easy to follow and contains many links to local chapters and schedules of various events and organizations. The site is a valuable educational tool as well as a resource for activists.

Dharma Central

Dharma Central takes an extensive look at the Sanatana Dharma. This informational website includes a history of Hinduism and its pillars, and delves into current events in standard reporting style. This overview material makes Dharma Central a great site for Hindus as well as non-Hindus. There is a list of Hindu-related books and a frequently asked questions section. There is a selection of articles that include material on subjects ranging from vegetarianism to life in the secular world. Also included is a connection to the Dharma Journal, an electronic journal that focuses on spirituality and the Dharma. Dharma Central is a very intriguing site, especially for those who would like to learn about the Sanatana Dharma and about the way Hinduism influences current issues and modern life.
